Gyokuro

Japan’s exotic treasure, Gyokuro Tea is covered in shade for two weeks before it is harvested. This retains the chlorophyll that brings out its complex flavours. The shading enhances into a delicious dark green hue that is rich, mildly sweet and has the freshness and aroma of floral-greens.

Region:
Yame, Japan
Clear

Tasting Notes:
Made only with the first flush leaf, it has a sweet, mild flavour and fresh, flowery-green aroma. Gyokuro's sweetness is due to the high levels of theanine, an amino acid that is generated by shading the tea bushes from direct sunlight prior to harvesting.
